Not Gonna Do It

Anyone who follows my ramblings knows that I have no love for Obama anymore. (He’s probably the best Republican president since Reagan – but I digress.)

But if the Republicans think that I will EVER vote for them after this…

It’s too bad really. You could have come out pro-liberty, restored habeas corpus, put an end to the fiscally disastrous drug war, and funded an educational system that would fuel another 100 years of American leadership.

You could have rebuilt the tax code.

You could have reinvented America based on the simple principle that the cheapest and fastest path to a measurably better society tomorrow vs yesterday will always be the best plan.

You could have kicked a few “too big to fail” systems in the balls (because anything too big to fail will fail disastrously big) and replaced it with lots of things “small enough to not destroy everything”, all of them handy and independent and, well, useful.

You could have built a military capable of fighting the next war rather than the last one.

You could have made Obama look like an appeasing, glad-handing, un-principled ass.

But no.

You do this to my country: you shut it down. YOU SHUT DOWN MY ENTIRE FUCKING COUNTRY!

And why? To end-run the entire democratic process, to destroy a LAW you are SWORN TO UPHOLD. Right now, I don’t think I will ever forgive you.

You could have won me over. It’s actually possible.

But now? Nope. You have shown yourselves to be irresponsible beyond reason. I now trust kindergartners more than you.

The US Govt is 1/100th of 1% of the entire US economy. Let’s not over do it, eh? Plus, if you’re just now realizing that the red/blue, repub/demo divide and conquer strategy has framed the “debate” the last 40 years and that you never really had a choice other that big gov’t or big corp – or well, both, then you’re way behind Peter. Try checking out Dr. Paul Craig Roberts some time, or other free thinking, independant minded men/woman found on Godlikeproductions. Worth a few minutes.

    Great suggestions BTW.

    • I am using the term “country” here to refer to the “nation” definition (of course). From dictionary.reference.com this is the defintion of a nation (referred from country):

      na·tion [ney-shuhn] noun
      1. a large body of people, associated with a particular territory, that is sufficiently conscious of its unity to seek or to possess a government peculiarly its own: The president spoke to the nation about the new tax.

I’d say that when you close down the government you are seeking to deprive the body of people with possession of a government peculiarly its own.

And thanks for comment and the props!

Sworn to uphold the law? If this were the case then slavery would still be the law of the land and prohibition would be in effect. Policemen are sworn to uphold the law, Congress passes (and occasionally repeals or refuses to fund) laws. The courts interpret laws. This end-run around the process is actually quite legal and used quite often by both sides of our lousy elected officials.

    • Slavery was the law of the land until it was made illegal by people who are sworn to uphold the constitution, and thus the law. Here’s the oath of office for our congress:

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”

The republicans learned from the Obama play book on destroying a law – he has exempted fat cats, congress and others from Obamacare (which nobody wants anyway), and the way he did it was un-constitutional. Wait, I thought he told us to hate the fat cats…..thought he was protecting us ordinary folks! Oh well, secretly on the fat cat side so he ignores all of the ways that his buddy Soros is violating international currency laws to make a billion or ten. Do your homework – Obama lies but we can’t question anything or were racist. And call me in a year and we’ll see how much you like Obamacare.

    • Dude. Are you seriously accusing me of not doing my homework? Do your homework. I always do mine, you’d know that if you did yours.

I look forward to Obama care. I’ve run the numbers. It’s good.

You post your analysis of ACA in a year, let me know, I’ll read it.

But really – back to the whole shutting down govt thing. That’s good how?
